Our Mission is to Connect and Educate professionals who work in smart cities, sustainable urbanism, and urban technology.

Our Vision is to create a global community of smart cities professionals.

We are motivated by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 11: Sustainable cities and communities to creating places inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable.

Our Values include being empathetic, supportive, and respectful.

Be empathetic. The power of this community is the diverse professional experiences but all with a common interest. We might not all agree but the least we can give one another is the benefit of the doubt and an open ear.

Be supportive. We are believers that what goes around comes around, and that what you put in you will get out. If you lift others we are more than certain you might receive a benefit in return.

Be respectful. Let's be decent human beings and show thoughtfulness, consideration, and care. We do not tolerate harmful speech, discrimination, harassment or any non-respectful behaviour online (Whatsapp community) or offline (in-person events). is to create a global community of smart cities professionals.

Urban Techies was founded by Brittany Lee, whose passion for cities developed when her family uprooted their mountainous Vancouver dwelling to the barren deserts of Dubai when she was 5-years old, and for the next decade witnessed the city grow, crane by crane, like a pop-up book.

Her architecture and business academic background has enabled her early career at the intersection of urbanism and technology in consulting, proptech, and telecoms working on GIS and IoT projects for the City of Toronto and major real estate developers.
